I have been a senior executive and a management consultant working across many sectors of industry including secondments to Central Government Departments. I have an eclectic career background covering several industry sectors including financial services, central and local government, media, new media and utilities. I have also delivered quantifiable business benefits through implementing strategies in several CIO (board-level IT Director) positions.

I have worked for several Blue-Chip organisations and I have experience of large and small organisations in both the public and private sector including start-ups.

I have been the honorary Fellow in Information Management at Bradford University where I was also the Chairman of the MBA Alumni for a number of years. I have also co-authored a number of articles and invented an information management framework for labelling digital content that was licensed to over 700 broadcasting organisations.

I have always had an interest in educating and developing the next generation of CIOs. I believe strongly that Information Leaders are under-represented in the National debate and that there needs to be stronger links between academia and business. The interdisciplinary focus of the Centre allows us to develop the interdepedent relationships that is needed to transform the national debate.

In my view, you cannot practice without theory and you cannot theorise without practice.
