As Director of the Information Studies Scheme (ISS), Lyn has overall responsibility for the concept, cohesion and curriculum of its three masters courses: Information Science, Library Science, and Information Management in the Cultural Sector (this latter course being run jointly with the Department of Cultural Policy and Management). Lyn is also admissions tutor for ISS courses.
She has a long association with the department of information science as a visiting lecturer, but joined the permanent staff in 2004. Her research interests include history and philosophy of information, history of science, information communication and domain studies, (especially science and healthcare information), use and impact of social media, service evaluation and professional development.
Lyn focuses on the design and delivery of courses which equip participants to become leaders in information literacy and management. She has a keen interest in the effective use of technology for teaching and learning, and in the involvement of key researchers and practitioners within the field.
