In 2010 Dr. Conklin moved to the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Universidad del País Vasco, Donostia - San Sebastián, Spain.

Prior to joining City University Dr. Conklin worked for many years mining the human genome for novel potential biopharmaceuticals at a biotechnology company in Seattle.

In the Department of Computing at City University, Dr. Conklin designed new courses (MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Mining, and BSc Computer Science with Music Informatics) and taught modules in bioinformatics, music informatics, and introductory computer science. He was also a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Music, School of Arts, where he taught on the MSc Music Information Technology. He was the group leader of the Music Informatics research group in the Department of Computing. In 2005 he was awarded a City University Staff Research Prize for his work in bioinformatics.
