About the course
Delivered by the internationally-renowned Centre for Software Reliability (CSR), this short one day course introduces the idea of assurance cases as a key approach to justifying and communicating the trustworthiness of a complex system.
How you benefit
The justification of computer-based systems provides significant challenges and there is a need for all stakeholders to understand these challenges and be aware of the methods and techniques that are used to develop and assess computer systems. Assurance cases provide a framework for defining and structuring claims about the dependability of a system, and showing that the system is adequately dependable for a given application in a given environment.
After attending this one day course, participants will be able to:
- Outline the role of assurance cases in justifying the safety (security, reliability) of systems
- Explain the concepts of claims, arguments and evidence in constructing an assurance case
- Apply some assurance case tools and understand the implications of the important techniques for risk, safety, and security analysis
