Careers as a Health Information Scientist, and Pharmaceutical Information Manager

The course aims to develop:

Overview

The HaPI postgraduate degree offers an unprecedented opportunity to undertake an in-depth study of library/information science, as applied in the healthcare and pharmaceutical domains.

The only course of its kind in Britain, it is delivered by City's Department of Information Science, with modules contributed by the Centre for Health Informatics.

The course strikes a balance between fundamental library/information science content, flavoured by applications and examples from healthcare, and specifically health and pharmaceutical material.

HaPI provides preparation for a career in library/information work in healthcare and pharmaceutical environment, or enables development of an established career in the sector.

It is particularly aimed at those intending to work in libraries and information services in the health service, including consumer health information and medicines information services, in research, medical, and commercial information services in the pharmaceutical industry, and in other sectors - eg academic libraries, publishing, and database building - with a strong health or pharmaceutical focus. The course is also excellent preparation for doctoral (PhD) study.
