 | Jason has authored numerous academic papers describing, implementing and evaluating visualization software and methods, and wrote the cdv and panoraMap software which both use innovative and interactive approaches to visualize small area data. Lead editor of the interdisciplinary and international book 'Exploring Geovisualization' he co-chairs the International Cartographic Association Commission on Geovisualization and has been a programme committee member of the world leading IEEE Information Visualization (InfoVis) conference and Visual Analytics Science and Technologies (VAST) symposium. Jason Leads the giCentre's contribution to the EU Coordinated Action proposal 'Visual Analytics - Mastering the Information Age', has produced a number of reports, book chapters and training materials on visualizing diverse data sets and won the Best Paper prize at the GIS Research UK Conference in 2007 for his innovative visualization. His excellence as a teacher has been rewarded with a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship from the UK HE Academy for the online materials developed to support courses at City University London. |
| Dr. Alistair Edwardes | Lead Spatial Analyst, Spatial Analysis Unit, Department for Communities and Local Government |
 | Alistair has a background in geographic information science having been a Research Fellow at the Universities of Zurich and Edinburgh. His research has been on EU Funded projects looking at issues such as map generalisation for location based services and abstracting geographic information from unstructured sources like images and texts. He was recently appointed as Lead Spatial Analyst at CLG, working in the new Spatial Analysis Unit. The unit aims to improve the quantity, quality and impact of spatial analysis across Government and develop new and innovative ways for understanding spatial data. Alistair won the Best Paper prize at the GIS Research UK Conference in 2008 for collaborative work with the giCentre involving visualization of spatial text contributed to the 'Geograph' collection. |

 | A local champion of data graphics within and beyond LCC, Robert was recently named 'Innovator of the Year' at the 'Council of the Year' for his effective and innovative use of graphics. He has wide experience of using and developing visualization solutions for socio-economic statistics to help local authorities produce effective evidence-based policy Ð for example as lead on developing the evidence base for the county's recent Local Area Agreement. Robert's visualization work has been presented at various local government fora including the CLIP National Conference (2006), the LARIA National Conference (2008) and a 'Presenting Data' Master-Class for the Association of Regional Observatories in (2008) and he contributed an example of best practice in visualizing local authority data for decision making to the recent 'In the Know' report (The Audit Commission, 2008). He is currently working part-time on visualizing Leicestershire's library lending records as an ESRC UPTAP Research Fellow at the giCentre. |

| In working with Willis, Aidan has developed a number of innovative visualization techniques and solutions using a range of technologies in a variety of domains including the analysis of longer term forecasts, model sensitivity, mobile phone usage, house prices and multiple GPS logs. The author of academic papers describing novel visualization techniques and their application with particular emphasis on information visualization, Web 2.0, mashups and applications in the insurance industry. Aidan has expertise in Processing and Google spatial technologies. Aidan was named AGI 'Student of the Year' twice - for his MSc and PhD projects. |

 | Alan has expertise in the use of data visualization tools and techniques for presenting social statistics and is founder of ONS' Data Visualisation Centre. He offers an extensive portfolio of innovative data visualization solutions, including CommuterView (a commuting analysis tool), the Atlas of Indices of Deprivation 2007 and animated population pyramids. A well known champion of the importance of graphics in data analysis Alan provides a persuasive and pragmatic approach to interpreting, using and producing graphics and was winner of best overall paper at Association of Geographic Information 2003 for "Unlocking information through Data Visualization" |

| Jo has expertise in data visualization and information visualization and particular interest in using Java and Processing for exploring structured data sets. One of the pioneers of online learning for Geographic Information, he developed the LandSerf GIS (over 40,000 downloads) and the treeMappa visualization software and has participated in a range of research projects that have developed visualization solutions, toolkits and training resources. Jo wrote 'Java Programming for Spatial Sciences' (Wood, 2002), has authored academic papers on visualization including surface analysis of small area statistics and won the Best Paper prize at the GIS Research UK Conference in 2009 for his OD Maps. |
