Welcome to the Department of Computing
The Department of Computing conducts internationally acknowledged research, education and technology transfer in computing, with some bias towards software engineering, intelligent systems and computational methods, agents and business systems engineering. We are concerned with the development and application of principles, methods, techniques and tools for the construction of computing systems and with the improvement of business processes through the application of IT.
The department is home to 15 full-time members of academic staff. it comprises of 4 research groups and is also home for The Centre For Health Informatics:

Prof. George Spanoudakis joins programme committee for Esorics 2010. Computer security is concerned with the protection of information in environments where there is a possibility of intrusion or malicious action. The aim of ESORICS is to further the progress of research in computer security by establishing a European forum for bringing together researchers in this area, by promoting the exchange of ideas with system developers and by encouraging links with researchers in related areas.
Software Requirements Engineering Dr. Andrea Zisman has been invited to speak at the IFIP working group 2.9 - Software Requirements Engineering to be held in San Diego in February 2010.
A UML-Based Static Verification Framework for Security This paper produced by members of The Software Engineering group will appear in a forthcoming security-focussed special issue of the Requirements Engineering Journal, and reports on work undertaken in the context of the F6 project PEPERS
