The GReAT project

GeST – Computer Gesture Therapy Tool for People with Aphasia

 

The GReAT research project has been funded by the Research Councils UK Digital Economy Theme to investigate the use of technology in gesture therapy for people with aphasia (a communication disorder that occurs after stroke).  The Stroke Association are project partners for this research.

The project has three main aims:

1. EXPLORE

Computer interaction design in full consultation with users with aphasia.

2. DESIGN

An affordable, computer-based technology that can be used in therapy to help people with aphasia to use gesture in communication.

3. PILOT

Test the efficacy of the prototype in a therapy study with people with aphasia.
