The GReAT project
GeST – Computer Gesture Therapy Tool for People with Aphasia
The GReAT research project has been funded by the Research Councils UK Digital Economy Theme to investigate the use of technology in gesture therapy for people with aphasia (a communication disorder that occurs after stroke). The Stroke Association are project partners for this research.
The project has three main aims:
1. EXPLORE
Computer interaction design in full consultation with users with aphasia.
2. DESIGN
An affordable, computer-based technology that can be used in therapy to help people with aphasia to use gesture in communication.
3. PILOT
Test the efficacy of the prototype in a therapy study with people with aphasia.
